Britton Smith was appointed President of Blue Bird in July 2023. Britton joined the company in March 2022 as Senior Vice President, Electrification and Chief Strategy Officer.
During his tenure, he has been instrumental in growing the company’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and leadership in zero-emission school buses with approx. 1,000 EV buses in operation today.
Britton builds on over 20 years of executive experience in public and private-equity-owned companies across manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, financial, and services sectors. Before joining Blue Bird, he served as Director, Strategy and Deal Advisory at KPMG. In addition, Britton previously held various executive roles, including Chief Operating Officer at financial services company DFC Global Corp, and Associate Principal at management consulting firm McKinsey & Company.
Britton holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with Highest Distinction from the United States Naval Academy and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
